1. What is the source for Lippincott’s Nursing Procedures and Skills?
Lippincott’s Nursing Procedures and Skills were created by nurses for nurses. Every procedure in Lippincott’s Nursing Procedures and Skills was written and validated by a practicing nurse expert in the field and is formulated on the most recent, evidence based standards of patient care.
2. How often is the content updated in Lippincott’s Nursing Procedures and Skills?
We’re always abreast of current clinical guidelines and standards for nursing; therefore, we will update the product as dictated by changes to clinical guidelines. We review all procedures at least annually for updates on a rolling basis.
3. What are the procedures reviewed for?
Each procedure is reviewed for:
- Content currency including adherence to the most current standards and guidelines such as those required by the Joint Commission, the Intravenous Nursing Society, American Heart Association, American Blood Bank, AACN guidelines, and so forth.
- Reference currency within 3 to 5 years except for legacy references. Reference review also includes appropriateness of the references to the content.
- Image and photo currency. We change these as necessary to keep them current.
- Relevancy and timeliness of the procedures
- Completeness of the procedure within the product guidelines.
4. How are your reviewers and contributors selected?
Procedures are reviewed by nurses who perform the procedure and/or by faculty members who teach the procedure. We look for reviewers who have an advanced degree and several years experience in the appropriate specialty area or several years teaching performance of the procedure.
